Hello lovelies,
The weather in Nairobi has been so unpredictable lately, sunny one minute, then cold and pouring the next *sigh*. Wearing my hair down in braid out and twist out styles has quickly become impossible, my hair just shrinks and reverts as soon as I’m out of the door.
Seeing as I need to look presentable for work, and I do not have the time or strength to deal with the tangled/matted aftermath of rain soaked tresses, protective styling is the way to go.
This up do is a variation of my crowning glory up do (click here). Both start with medium sized two strand twists, however, this time, I did my two strand twists tighter to avoid any precipitation-induced shrinkage.
I absolutely love this style for work! I completely eliminate manipulation, as I don’t have to style it daily as it stays pinned and secured the whole week. I ensure to moisturize my hair at the end of the week (click here for my step by step guide to moisturizing) to ensure that my hair remains hydrated under my protective style.
How are you wearing your hair through this unpredictable rainy weather? Leave a comment down below and share 🙂
Happy Nappy Hair,

your twists are really juicy and you have a beautiful complexion.
i just installed my midi twists yesterday.its my to-go style when everything else has bored me. also since i was contemplating sister locs and didnt have them installed- im using this moment to remind myself that I cant deal with permanent decisions on my head.
Hi Victoria,
Thank you so much…no one has ever called my twists juicy 🙂
You’re much like me, I’ve always admired sister locs and dread locs, but i love the freedom of switching it up every so often.
